Inheriting the spirit of our founding father, Saionji Kinmochi, and our founder, Kojuro Nakagawa, Ritsumeikan University, our alma mater, has developed as a private comprehensive university with a global presence as well as local and community roots under the founding spirit of “freedom and innovation.” In addition, including graduating and completing students from this spring, there are now 400,000 Ritsumeikan University alumni.
About 100 years ago, Ritsumeikan was at a crossroads of whether to remain a training college or be promoted to the level of university, in accordance with the University Order. Our predecessors at this time, who saw their own future in the development of their alma mater, united alumni from all over the country and worked hard to raise funds for the promotion of the University. It is said that our national alumni association was born at this time.
The Ritsumeikan University Alumni Association, bearing the hopes of its predecessors, supports the further development of its alma mater, both materially and spiritually, as well as assists younger generations of students to grow and enrich themselves through intergenerational exchange between alumni who encourage each other’s activities.
The success of our alumni is a source of pride for our alma mater and a source of aspiration for Ritsumeikan students who are about to enter the workforce. In order to contribute to the future of those students who come after us, we, as alumni, will deepen cooperation with the University and work together for further growth.
